AI for insights and analytics
An assets report says a relationship is healthy while the redemption watch puts it in row one. AI analytics reads the flow file and the CRM export, separates gross sales from redemptions, and answers the distribution head's question: which relationships are leaving, and who has not been seen.
These are the questions asset managers ask. Each one maps to a measure our tools compute from your files. The AI model chooses the measure and explains the result; the arithmetic is done by our code, and every total is checked.
| The question | The measure behind it | What comes back |
|---|---|---|
| Which clients are redeeming while their assets look flat? | Redemption watch | Clients with trailing net outflows masked by market gains, ranked by outflow, with the last logged meeting. |
| Where are net flows coming from, by strategy? | Net flows by client and strategy | Gross sales, redemptions and net by client and strategy, summing to the firm total. |
| What share of an intermediary's flows do we win? | Share of intermediary flows | Our gross sales against the intermediary's reported total, by strategy, with the gap. |
| Are we covering the largest relationships at cadence? | Coverage at cadence, by assets | Assets of clients met within their tier cadence over assets assigned, by salesperson. |
| How concentrated are flows? | Flow concentration | Top-ten share and the effective number of clients behind net flows. |
| Which clients hold one strategy where similar clients hold three? | Strategies held per client | Strategies per client against the norm for its channel, with the candidates for a second. |
Every figure below was computed by a tool from the rows and checked before it was shown. The lines sum; the percentages match; each line opens to the rows that make it.
Which relationships are redeeming?
Trailing three-month net outflows total $110.0m across 3 channels, after separating gross sales from redemptions. Intermediary channel accounts for $61.0m, 55% of the net outflow.
| Intermediary channel | $61.0m | 55% of the total |
| Institutional channel | $34.0m | 31% of the total |
| Private wealth channel | $15.0m | 14% of the total |
| The 3 lines sum to | $110.0m | 0 unexplained |
Which intermediaries?
3 intermediaries account for $53.0m of the $61.0m net outflow in the Intermediary channel, 87% of it. Assets at each are within two percent of peak because markets rose, which is why the assets report shows nothing.
| Halcyon Advisers | $23.0m | gross sales 18m, redemptions 41m; last meeting 5 months ago |
| Sterling Partners | $19.0m | gross sales 9m, redemptions 28m; last meeting 7 weeks ago |
| Cobalt Wealth | $11.0m | gross sales 4m, redemptions 15m; no meeting logged this year |
| These 3 are | $53.0m | 87% of Intermediary channel |
Who should be in front of them?
The salesperson who owns each, this month, with the flow split in hand and the strategy the redemptions are leaving. The channel head reviews the redemption watch weekly until the trend turns.
| Intermediary salespeople | Meet Halcyon, Sterling and Cobalt with the flow split | This month |
| Channel head | Review the redemption watch weekly | Weekly |
| Head of distribution | Put net flows by client in the monthly pack | Monthly |
Each measure has one formula, one source and one meaning. They are computed per salesperson and channel and in total, and every one carries an identity that must hold before it is shown.
| Measure | Formula | From | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Net flows by client and strategy | Gross sales − redemptions, per client, per strategy, per period | Transfer agency or platform flow file | Who is adding and who is leaving, by strategy |
| Gross sales and redemptions, separately | Each as a share of opening assets | Flow file; asset file | Rotation and retention hidden inside a flat net |
| Share of intermediary flows | Your gross sales at the intermediary ÷ its category gross sales | Flow file; market flow data or stated allocation | How much of the available flow you win |
| Redemption watch | Intermediaries whose trailing 3-month net flow turned negative while assets are still near peak | Flow file; asset file | Assets about to fall, while there is time to call |
| Coverage at cadence, by assets | Assets of intermediaries touched within tier cadence ÷ total assets | CRM activity; asset file | Whether the largest holders are being seen |
| Channel share per strategy | Flows by platform, wirehouse, independent adviser, institutional ÷ strategy flows | Flow file with channel | Which channel each strategy actually sells through |
| Flow concentration | Top ten intermediaries' share of gross sales; largest single share | Flow file | Dependence on a few platforms or gatekeepers |
| Fee yield on flows | Revenue-weighted fee rate on new flows against the rate on the existing book | Flow file with share class; fee schedule | Whether growth is arriving in the cheapest share class |
| Strategies held per client | Count of strategies held, against the norm for the client type | Asset file | Single-strategy relationships; cross-sell list |
| Consultant rating coverage | Strategies rated by each consultant ÷ strategies eligible; meetings in the last 12 months | Ratings log; CRM | Gatekeepers nobody has called |
Each measure is worked through, with the export it comes from and what to drop, in Distribution KPIs for asset managers.
From your question and the measures declared for asset managers, the model picks the one that answers it, and the period and comparison the question implies.
Deterministic code reads the rows, computes the measure, and checks the identities below. The same question on the same data gives the same answer, every time.
The AI model writes the sentence around the result, naming the salesperson or account behind it. It states no figure that is not in the result, and every figure links to its rows.
| Flows | Opening assets + gross sales − redemptions + market movement = closing assets |
| Channel share | Channel flows sum to strategy flows; strategy flows sum to the firm total |
| Coverage | Intermediaries = covered + uncovered; each in one tier |
| Concentration | Intermediary flows sum to the flow file total |
The exports asset managers already produce. Column names are mapped once and the mapping is reused. A file is the way in; scheduled delivery and connections to your systems come with the plan, and every source is listed here.
An answer is a list with an owner and a cadence, or it is a chart nobody works.
| Measures | Owner | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Redemption watch; coverage at cadence | Head of distribution; channel heads | Weekly |
| Net, gross and redemption flows by client | Salespeople; channel heads | Monthly |
| Share of intermediary flows; channel share; fee yield | Head of distribution; product | Quarterly |
| Consultant coverage; concentration | Head of institutional; head of distribution | Quarterly |
Because net flow of minus 23 million can be gross sales of 18 million and redemptions of 41 million, and the two halves say different things. The first says the salesperson is still winning; the second says a large holding is leaving. The tool reports both, and the redemption watch ranks on the second.
By reading flows, not assets. Assets rise with markets and hide outflows; flows do not. Where the assets report shows a two percent dip, the flow file shows the first negative quarter in two years, and the tool reports that with the figures side by side.
The flow file by client, strategy and month, with gross and redemptions separately, and the CRM activity export for coverage and last contact. Intermediary reported totals, where you have them, add share of flows. The names can be pseudonymised before upload on Enterprise.
No. It replaces the two days of spreadsheet work before the judgement. The salesperson still decides why Halcyon is redeeming and what to say; the tool makes sure they know before the client's next review rather than after.
