AI for insights and analytics
An operator that went from five rigs to eleven will spend about 31 million on the service line this year and gives the company seven percent of it, because it ranked fourteenth on last year's revenue. AI analytics reads the revenue, rig activity and CRM files, and answers the basin manager: where is activity growing that we are not covering.
These are the questions oilfield services companies ask. Each one maps to a measure our tools compute from your files. The AI model chooses the measure and explains the result; the arithmetic is done by our code, and every total is checked.
| The question | The measure behind it | What comes back |
|---|---|---|
| Where is our wallet share lowest against operator activity? | Operator wallet share by basin | Revenue against estimated operator spend on the line, from rig count and cost per well, by basin. |
| Are we covering the operators whose activity is rising? | Activity-weighted coverage | Operators visited within cadence, weighted by current rig activity rather than last year's revenue. |
| Which operators use one service line where peers use four? | Service lines per operator | Lines per operator against the basin norm, with the gap valued. |
| How utilised is the rental fleet, by operator? | Rental fleet utilisation by operator | Days on rent over days available by asset class and operator, with idle fleet. |
| Is every operator entity mapped to its parent? | Operator mapping completeness | Revenue under entity names not mapped to an operator, with the largest unmapped. |
| How are bids converting, by basin and line? | Bid win rate | Bids won over submitted by count and value, with the large lost bids. |
Every figure below was computed by a tool from the rows and checked before it was shown. The lines sum; the percentages match; each line opens to the rows that make it.
Where is operator activity rising that we are under-covering?
Estimated operator spend on our lines where our share is under ten percent totals $150.0m this year across 3 basins, weighted by current rig count. Permian accounts for $86.0m, 57% of it.
| Permian | $86.0m | 57% of the total |
| Eagle Ford | $41.0m | 27% of the total |
| Bakken | $23.0m | 15% of the total |
| The 3 lines sum to | $150.0m | 0 unexplained |
Which Permian operators?
3 operators account for $67.0m of the $86.0m in the Permian, 78% of it. The largest doubled its rig count in a year and appears in the ledger under four entity names, only one of which is mapped.
| Caprock Energy | $31.0m | 11 rigs, up from 5; 7% share; 4 entities, 1 mapped |
| Mesa Verde Resources | $22.0m | 8 rigs; 6% share; last visit 4 months ago |
| Llano Petroleum | $14.0m | one service line; peers use four |
| These 3 are | $67.0m | 78% of Permian |
Who covers Caprock now?
A named account manager, this month, on activity rather than last year's rank. Sales operations maps the four entities first so the share figure is right when the conversation starts.
| Sales operations | Map Caprock's four entities to the operator | This week |
| Permian account managers | Visit Caprock, Mesa Verde and Llano on the activity list | This month |
| Basin manager | Rank coverage by rig activity, not prior revenue | Weekly |
Each measure has one formula, one source and one meaning. They are computed per account manager and basin and in total, and every one carries an identity that must hold before it is shown.
| Measure | Formula | From | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operator wallet share by basin | Revenue from the operator on the service line ÷ operator's estimated spend on it, from wells × cost per well | Ledger; public well and rig data | Operators where you hold a tenth of the work |
| Activity-weighted coverage | Activity of operators contacted within cadence ÷ total activity in the basin | CRM; rig and permit data | Whether the reps are where the rigs are |
| Service lines per operator | Lines with revenue ÷ lines relevant to the operator's programme | Ledger | Single-line relationships |
| Rental fleet utilisation by operator | Days on rent ÷ days available, by asset class and operator | Rental system | Idle fleet; operators who stopped renting |
| Operator mapping completeness | Revenue on entities mapped to a parent operator ÷ revenue | Ledger; operator master | Whether roll-ups can be trusted |
| Bid win rate | Bids won ÷ bids decided, by count and value, by basin and line | Bid log | Where pricing or qualification loses |
| Price realisation against agreement | Invoiced rate ÷ agreement rate, by line; discounts given in the field | Ledger; agreements file | Rates conceded job by job |
| Operator concentration | Top five operators' share of revenue and margin, rolled up | Ledger; operator master | Dependence on a few drilling programmes |
| Days sales outstanding by operator | Receivables ÷ average daily revenue, per operator | Receivables ledger | Operators financing themselves on your invoices |
| Job margin by basin and line | Revenue − direct job cost, per job, by basin and service line | Job costing | Basins where work is won at a loss |
Each measure is worked through, with the export it comes from and what to drop, in Sales KPIs for oilfield services companies.
From your question and the measures declared for oil and gas services, the model picks the one that answers it, and the period and comparison the question implies.
Deterministic code reads the rows, computes the measure, and checks the identities below. The same question on the same data gives the same answer, every time.
The AI model writes the sentence around the result, naming the account manager or account behind it. It states no figure that is not in the result, and every figure links to its rows.
| Mapping | Ledger entities = mapped to an operator + unmapped |
| Rental | Available days = on rent + idle + in maintenance |
| Bids | Bids = won + lost + no award + open |
| Jobs | Job revenue and cost sum to the ledger |
The exports oilfield services companies already produce. Column names are mapped once and the mapping is reused. A file is the way in; scheduled delivery and connections to your systems come with the plan, and every source is listed here.
An answer is a list with an owner and a cadence, or it is a chart nobody works.
| Measures | Owner | Cadence |
|---|---|---|
| Activity-weighted coverage | Account managers; basin managers | Weekly |
| Rental utilisation; bid win rate | Basin managers | Monthly |
| Wallet share; service lines; price realisation | Vice president of sales | Quarterly |
| Operator mapping; concentration; days sales outstanding; job margin | Sales operations; finance | Quarterly |
From rig count and your own cost per well for the line, both of which you provide. The tool multiplies your figures; it does not estimate activity itself. The estimate is labelled as one, and the rig file's date is shown so the basin manager knows how current it is.
Because a coverage list ranked on last year's revenue puts a fast-growing operator fourteenth, and a visit cadence built on that rank leaves it unvisited for four months. Weighting by current rigs puts it first, which is where the account manager's time belongs.
Revenue is rolled up from entity names to the operator by the mapping you keep, and revenue under unmapped names is reported as its own line with the largest names listed. Mapping is the first task, because every share figure depends on it.
Revenue by entity, basin and line, the rig activity file, cost per well by line, the CRM visit log, and rental days by asset and operator. The bid log adds win rate. Each is a file the company already keeps for the basin review.
