DefinitionFor an investment banking client, the fees it paid all banks across products in the period, estimated from public deal data with stated fee assumptions per product and size band. The denominator of the bank's share per client.

Good enough to rank

The level is approximate; the ranking is stable. The assumptions are versioned and on the report.

Private clients

No public data is not a zero wallet. Report them as unestimated.

How it is computed

The fees a client paid to all banks across products over a period, estimated from licensed fee data and adjusted by the coverage officer's knowledge, with the source stated.

Example

A client paid an estimated $38 million over three years. The bank earned $1.9 million: 5 percent.

Where it goes wrong

The bank's own revenue from the client read as success or failure with no denominator.
