Revenue driver analysis

Ask what is driving your revenue, and get a bridge that adds up.

Revenue moved. Was it price, volume, mix, new customers or lost ones, and where? Covirage builds the bridge from your own sales or income files: each line is a driver, the lines sum exactly to the change, and every line opens to the customers, products and regions behind it.

Explain where my revenue growth came from this quarter
Revenue is up £3.2m on last year. Volume added £4.1m, almost all in the North, price added £1.0m, and mix took away £1.9m as sales moved to the value range. Two lost customers cost £0.8m and new customers brought £0.8m. The rows behind each line are below.

One question, one bridge, the same figures as the pack

The monthly pack answers the questions somebody anticipated. The director's next question is always why. Revenue driver analysis answers it from the same figures, in the same definitions, without an analyst rebuilding a workbook.

Price, volume and mix

The classic decomposition by product and customer, at the level your data supports, with the residual shown and not hidden.

New, lost and retained

Growth split between customers you kept, customers you won and customers who stopped, by value.

Where it happened

Each line broken down by region, channel, product or owner, ranked by contribution to the change.

How it works

Three steps, in this order.

Send the file

Sales or income by customer, product and period, with units where you have them. Client IDs only.

Confirm the roll-up

Totals by level agree with each other and with the control total you give.

Ask

Any period against any other, any cut, with the tool that produced the answer named.

“Where is my revenue coming from, and what is driving it?”The question this page exists to answer

Questions teams ask

Short answers. The Help centre has the long ones.

What if we have no unit data?

Then price and volume cannot be separated honestly, and the bridge says so. It falls back to customer and product effects: retained, new, lost and mix.

Does it work for a bank or a trading business?

Yes. For interest income the drivers are balance, rate and mix. For a trading business they are client activity, market volume and margin. The bridge has the same shape.

Is this a forecast?

No. It explains what has happened. Forecast analysis has its own page.
