Estate currency is matched services divided by distinct services on either the estate or the billing file. Over the estate count alone it hides the orphans; over both files it counts every disagreement once. A B2B telecoms account at 75 percent currency has a quarter of its services wrong in one direction or the other, and the two assertions, estate equals matched plus ghosts and billed equals matched plus orphans, are what make the rate checkable.

How it is computed

Services that agree between the estate record and the billing file, divided by every distinct service on either.

Example

Fourteen services on the estate and fourteen billed; twelve match, two are ghosts and two are orphans. Currency is 12 of 16: 75 percent.

Where it goes wrong

Divided by the estate count. The result is 86 percent and the two billed services nobody knew about stay hidden.
